This Air Force Department Fire Service cap badge is the 2nd pattern worn by the air force, the 1st being an all chrome version. Formed in 1959 & disbanding in 1991 to become The Defence Fire Service after the governing bodies of the seperate fire services mostly set up in the late 1950's & early 1960's for the armed forces all amalgamated in 1991. These included The Army Fire Service, Admiralty Fire Service, Admiralty Fire Prevention Service & The Ministry Of Defence Fire Service!

Both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear & the star is a standard fully pressed home office Q.C (Queens Crown) star with the enameled centre secured by thin pin. The enamel is in very nice condition with excellent patina & colours
