Barnsley Fire Brigade post ww2 was formed in 1948 when the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades. Barnsley a small county borough fire brigade had just 1 fire station covering 12 square miles of the Barnsley area & so the original Barnsley Fire Brigade cap badges are a little harder to obtain than many larger brigades.
So on offer here is a very rare chrome example of which a small batch were issued. I am lucky enough to own 3 originals with the shear amount of full cap badge collections i have bought in since the 1980's to gain my now famous collection that has become the largest known in the UK & i believe the rarest because i have spent thousands of pounds on individual badges as well as whole collections. This badge came from an £8,760.91 collection bought in where there were several extremely rare badges amongst the large amount the collection contained. I am now starting to dig these rare badges out & offer spares to other serious collectors who like myself, want to obtain badges many other collectors wont have.
So here is a Marples & Beasley manufactured very rare chrome Barnsley Fire Brigade 1948 to 1974 cap badge in immaculate condition. I obtained another from a different collection & many years ago i have my own chrome that is in my collection. This cap badge has the Marples & Beasley factory stamp mark to the rear of the lined economy issue Home Office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge. For the serious fire brigade cap badge collectors it is a fine example to own of this rare chrome variation of a small county borough fire brigade.
