The post ww2 Brighton Fire Brigade instituted in 1948 after the Fire Services Act of 1947 handed back fire control from The N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) to regional county & county borough fire brigades. Brighton, a county borough fire brigade in the county of East Sussex had 2 fire stations covering 20 square miles of area. Merging with East Sussex County Fire Brigade in 1974 after another Fire Services Act of the same year disbanded all county borough fire brigades into the control of regional counties. This cap badge is in great original condition with the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue lined Home Office star by a thin brass pin, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
