This 1st pattern Gwent Fire Brigade helmet transfer is in great condition & becoming increasingly rarer owing to the amount of time in use, 1974 to 1982, a total of 8 years only. Gwent Fire Brigade was formed in 1974 after the Fire Service Reforms Act of the same year created new regional county brigades after merging the pre 1974 county borough brigades into county fire services!

Gwent was an amalgamation of parts of the old Monmouthshire Fire Brigade & Newport County Borough Fire Brigade & in 1996 it amalgamated with all other Welsh fire brigades into just 3 main regional fire services. These were North Wales, South Wales & Mid & West Wales Fire Services, Gwent was merged into the newley formed South Wales Fire Service. 

The 2nd pattern badge was a coat of arms as opposed to this shield style badge, a nice early Gwent Fire Brigade helmet transfer in great condition, these helmet transfers will become much desireable in time, especially the limited year transfers such as Gwent.
