A very hard to obtain chrome cap badge from the London L.C.C ( London County Council ) Fire Brigade issued from 1952 to 1965. These chrome badges are very sought after by cap badge collectors due to their scarcity. Manufactured by Marples & Beasley who were official cap badge suppliers to the L.C.C London Fire Brigade, it is known that a very small batch of chrome cap badges were produced, possibly in error. The badges you find on the open market for sale are gilt variations & many chrome looking LFB badges of this period are in fact badly worn gilt variations which are easy to tell by looking at the sides & the rear Marples & Beasley short straps holding the centre to the Home Office star.  This cap badge is in used condition as issued & has the standard slider cap fitting attachment to the rear of the badge.  There are no enamel chips to the enamel. I have only come across 4 in  my years of collecting, the 1st is in my own collection. Not even listed in "the bible" of British Fire Brigade cap badges because the author had never seen one ! A rare badge for the serious collector of fire badges !
