Luton Fire Brigade was formed in 1964 & lasted only 10 years until 1974 when all former small county borough fire brigades were merged into county fire services following The 1974 Fire Services Act. Luton Fire Brigade had 2 main variations of cap badge being small or large letters in the title scroll. Luton Fire Brigade had just 1 fire station covering 17 square miles of area making original badges very desireable to collectors.

This variation is the small letters variation, the enamel centre fixed to the standard issue fully pressed Home Office star by a thin brass pin, both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear of the cap badge.
