The post ww2 Walsall Fire Brigade instituted in 1948 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) handed back fire control to the regional county & county borough fire brigades, had 4 variations of cap badges for collectors to find. The 1st two, an all brass or all chrome variation were also used by council employee's i.e bus drivers & other council departments that required a uniform. The 2 variations of later purely fire brigade variations are an enamel coat of arms with a gilt crown or also with an enamel crown. These 2 variations are the hardest to obtain for collectors.

Walsall is a part of Staffordshire County although is designated a part of the West Midlands area which the brigade disbanded in 1974 amalgamated into West Midlands Fire Service. It boasted 2 fire stations covering 14 square miles of area so the later 2 cap badges are highly prised. This cap badge is in immaculate original condition. The enamel coat of arms with the gilt enamel crown is perfect & the economy issue lined Home Office star & the 2 cap fixing lugs are attached to the rear.
