The Island of Alderney was governed by Guernsey for many years. The island has it's own voluntary fire service & consists of 11 voluntary firefighters & answer approximately 40 calls a year. This cap badge manufactured by London Button & Badge Company is in good condition with the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star via a spot weld & the 2 cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge. Original issue State of Alderney Fire Brigade cap badges are not easy to come by, Toye Kenning & Spencer were the 1st manufacturers of this cap badge & London Badge & Button were the 2nd manufacturers. Staring business in the late 1960's would put this cap badge around the 1970's era as only one minimum batch of cap badges is ordered at a time for this small island fire service.
