A very rare Bolton Police Fire Brigade large "court" button dating from 1840 to 1880 when the police involvement with the fire brigade was handed over to the rural council. 
These buttons are extremely rare, i have one in my collection & although the same manufacturer they are different printed rears ( see pics of both added ). The shank is in excellent condition & has been in a very old fire brigade button collection for many years untouched. A few years ago Finbar Nolan ( famous early fire brigade button collector ) was offered £100 for the button in his collection, he refused to sell it & i now own his entire collection which has been kept whole & added to with my own collection. The 2nd button displayed is that exact same button & this costly spare came in recently to add to my website.
The button is large size & retains great detail & patina for its antique age !
