A nice rare Bootle Fire Brigade 1948 to 1974 gilt variety cap badge.

The two varieties of Bootle Fire Brigade cap badges that exist for this period are a chrome coat of arms and a gilt coat of arms, both having red enamel scrolls.
Chrome varieties are more common, but still hard to obtain, this gilt variety badge has very minor enamel missing near the letter "O" but nonetheless a hard to obtain cap badge.
Bootle Fire Brigade post ww2 was a very small fire brigade with only 1 fire station covering just 5 square miles of area, making both variations hard to obtain in original condition. The gilt centre is attached to the standard fully pressed Home Office star via a thin brass pin, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge.
