Buckinghamshire Fire Brigade was formed in 1948 when the NFS ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire stations. Buckinghamshire Fire Brigade had 33 fire stations covering 749 square miles of the Buckinghamshire County area. 2 main pattern of cap badge exist from 1948 to 1989 when Buckinghamshire changed its title to Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service & a new cap badge was designed. 5 different variations of this 2nd pattern post 1974 to 1989 cap badge exist & these gilt examples are rare as the limited number of both thick & thin rim are highly sought after by collectors.
