This great British security company is the largest & oldest, still current security companies in the world, celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2009. The celebrations hosted at St James Palace by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd, head of this famous security company, the ruling monarch maintaining a tradition being the head of the Corps. A guard of honour made up of 48 Commissionaires marked the occasion !

Formed in 1859 by Captain Sir Edward Walter (1823 to 1904), the idea to provide jobs for ex servicemen of The Crimean War (1853 to 1856). It gave able bodied & willing ex servicemen a chance of a good career after their duty to the crown through military service had ended.
Today the company still flourishes under the name of Corps Security, this post ww1(world war one 1914 to 1918) Corps Of Commissionaires helmet badge is complete with the 2 helmet retaining bolts fixed to the rear, the K.C (kings crown) above the star of the white metal badge & the circlet with the title of the corps displaying the emblem to the front. The badge is in used & polished condition, the words “ Corps Of Commissionaires “ still visible & these helmet badges are unusual & don’t come up for sale often.
