This Scottish Fire Brigade, formed in 1975 after the English county & county borough fire brigade amalgamations, lasted for 30 years until changing its title to Dumfries & Galloway Fire & Rescue Service in 2005. It boasted 2 different cap badges during its lifespan & the official brigade supplier during this time was Gaunt & Son’s, London ! The different variations are a first issue badge in gilt & a second issue badge in chrome !

This Gaunt & Son’s cap badge is a 1st issue gilt enamel cap badge manufactured on a fully pressed home office star with the enamel centre soldered to the face of the star. In absolutely superb condition retaining the lovely gilt patina, an almost unissued cap badge to grace any collection or retirement board !
