Durham County Fire Brigade was formed in 1948 after the NFS ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control after ww2 to regional county & county borough fire brigades. Durham County Fire Brigade had 26 fire stations covering 974 square miles of the Durham area. 

This cap badge manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham is in excellent condition, the enamel centre fixed to the standard fully pressed Home Office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge.
