A great example unissued Gwent Fire Brigade 1st pattern cap badge manufactured by Gaunt Badge Company of London, official suppliers to the brigade. The badge has excellent patina & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the fully pressed issue Home Office star. 
Gwent Fire Brigade was formed in 1974 & lasted until 1996 merging into South Wales Fire Service. 2 different pattern cap badges existed during that period, the shield being the 1st pattern issued until 1982 & then the coat of arms badge until merger.
