This Gwent Fire Brigade 1982 2nd pattern cap badge is the 2nd issue that London Button & Badge Company issued to the Gwent post 1982 Fire Brigade. The raer of the badge had a single horizontal lance cut slit as opposed to the cross shape of the 1st issue in 1982. London Button & Badge Company were the official suppliers of cap badges to the Gwent Fire Brigade until its demise in 1996 when all Welsh fire setrvices amalgamated into just 3 brigades, North Wales, South Wales & Mid & West Wales Fire Services. 
Gwent Fire Brigade amalgamated into the newly formed South Wales Fire Service in 1996, this badge, a very distinct & good looking cap badge from the Gwent 1982 onwards fire brigade is in excellent original condition & would make a fine addition to a fire breigade cap badge collection.
