Halifax Fire Brigade cap badges of the post ww2 era from 1948 to 1974 are very hard to obtain, this cap badge in excellent 100% original condition! There is evidence it has been on a cap at some stage in its lifetime, copies have been made but this badge is 100% guaranteed original & in great condition.

The Halifax Fire Brigade had just 1 fire station & it covered 22 square miles, that is the reason original cap badges are hard to obtain from a small 1 station county borough fire brigade. The Fire Services Act of 1974 merged it into West Yorkshire Fire Service when the act merged all smaller county borough fire brigades into regional county authority brigades. 

This badge is the 1st issue with the fully pressed home office star & the enamel centre being held by a brass pin. There are a few variations to the badge especially in finish & that makes each variation another area of collecting, although most collectors are happy with just one good original example & if you dont already have one, this badge is for you because of condition.
