A great opportunity to have an unissed MINT condition cap badge still in its sealed bag for Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service 1993 to 2021 cap badge when the brigade merged with Isle Of Wight Fire & Rescue Service to form Hampshire & Isle Of White Fire & Rescue Service & a new cap badge was issued.
The uniqueness of this particular fire service cap badge is that it is the ONLY British modern county fire service that has ever displayed the St Edward's Queen Elizabeth 2nd coronet within its design at the top of the shield ! The deputy chief officer Alan House who was in charge of organising & designing the new fire & rescue badge for 1993, wrote to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth personally to obtain permission for the St Edwards coronet to be displayed above the Hampshire rose shield.
There was uproar amongst serving firefighters when the new cap badge for Hampshire & Isle Of Wight Fire & Rescue Service was designed by council members & NOT firefighters & then issued, losing the incredible status of individuality as the only British county fire service to have the St Edward's coronet in its design.
A great MINT condition cap badge still sealed in its packet & issued by Toye Kenning & Spencer Badge Company who were one of 2 official cap badge suppliers to Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service.
