The Defence Security Corps of India is a body of military police personel that took over from the previous Defence Department Constabulary of India in 1947. With headquarters at Uttar Predish in India its roll is to protect Indian military establishments, research centres, ordnance factories & nuclear related establishments from sabotage & theft. Much of the recruitment is aimed at ex serving members of the Indian armed forces, giving them further employment after completing their military service, still under military authority. Five soldiers of this regiment were killed as recently as 2016 during the Pathankot Attack.
