Post www2 Leeds Fire Brigade was formed in 1948 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) handed back fire control to county & county borough fire brigades. Leeds was a county borough fire brigade & consisted of 5 fire stations covering 60 square miles in area. Leeds Fire Brigade had 2 variations of cap badge during the period up till 1974 when a new Fire Services act disbanded all former county borough fire brigades into regional county brigades & Leeds Fire Brigade became part of the West Yorkshire Fire Service in 1974. The 2 noteable variations are a chrome & a gilt variation but also you find them with a dimpled or smooth centre !

This chrome variation is the "dimpled" example in excellent condition, the enamel centre fixed to the standard fully pressed Home Office star, both cap mixing lugs are intact to the rear of the cap badge.
