The Leicestershire Fire Brigade was formed in 1974 after the 1974 Fire Services Act merging county borough fire brigades into county brigades! The Merging of Leicester & Rutland Fire Brigades & Leicester City County Borough Fire Brigade formed the new Leicestershire Fire Brigade & the badge lasted until 1987 when the service became a new Fire & Rescue Service as many brigades around the country were recognising the greater roles expected of a fire service! 

This cap badge from the Leicestershire Fire Service lasting just 13 years had a few variations but were manufactured by The London Button & Badge Company & this is the 2nd variation fully pressed home office star variety with a welded 2mm enamel centre! In great original condition with the 2 cap fixing lugs intact to the rear & the perfectb enamel centre with no chips or blemishes.
