Lindsey County Fire Brigade, part of Lincolnshire had 27 fire stations covering 1,502 square miles of area. Formed in 1948 after The N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) handed back fire control after ww2 to regional county & county borough fire brigades. There are 3 different variations of Lindsey County Fire Brigade cap badge to look out for by collectors, The variations are with the waves in the county badge, chrome, gilt or white alongside the standard blue waves. This cap badge is an early manufactured cap badge showing the brass lugs through the original chrome, an indication of an early produced cap badge ! They have been re soldered on as shown in the picture of the rear of the badge. The enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star via a thin brass pin. There is also evidence that the star has been drilled to provide the spacing between the lugs of the enamel centre as original badges had a shorter distance between the lugs than normal economy issue star cap badges. Both early brass / chrome cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
