A nicely named WW1 British Mercantile Marine Medal awarded to James Jacklin for services in the Merchant Navy in WW1 1914 to 1918.

These bronze medals were awarded to seamen & women who had undertaken one or more voyages on a merchant vessel through a war or danger zone.
The medal is in uncleaned original condition & bears the uncrowned head of King George 5th on one side, a steamship ploughing through an angry sea with a sinking submarine & a sailing vessel in the background & set within a laurel wreath. The words “For War Service Mercantile Marine 1914 to 1918” underneath the steamship.
