A 2nd pattern Merseyside Fire Brigade cap badge from the post 1974 era after the Fire Services Act merged all previous county borough fire brigades into regional county brigades. Merseyside County was formed after the previous Liverpool, Bootle, Birkenhead, St Helens, Southport & Wallasey fire brigades merged into one forming Merseyside County Fire Brigade. This 2nd pattern cap badge manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham is in great condition. The enamel centre fixed to the standard fully pressed Home Office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear. This badge lasted only 8 years until 1985 when the brigade adopted a new design of the shield of Merseyside being a gilt variation.
