The Mid Glamorgan Fire Service was formed in 1974 after the Fire Services Act of the same year amalgamated many brigades into more regional county brigades.
Mid Glamorgan Fire Service was made up of parts of the old Breconshire & Radnorshire Fire Brigade, Merthyr Tydfil Fire Brigade, Glamorgan Fire Brigade & Monmouthshire Fire Brigade, lasting until 1996 when the Welsh Fire Services amalgamated into just 3 brigades, Mid & West Wales, South Wales & North Wales Fire Services. Mid Glamorgan merged into South Wales Fire Service which is now South Wales Fire & Rescue Service after another change of title.
This helmet transfer is a water based transfer & is adhered to the fire helmets by soaking in water for a few minutes, peeling off gently & applying to the helmet, then dabbed dry with a soft towel. The rear has a water based adhesive to keep the transfers attached to the helmet when attending operations.
The transfer is in great condition & these paper transfers are fast becoming a thing of the past & will be harder to obtain over time.
