The National Fire Service was formed in 1941 amalgamating the A.F.S ( Auxiliary Fire Service ) & approx. 1,600 borough & county borough fire brigades into one complete national firefighting force.
During the 6 years the badge was officially worn there were a few different types & styles of badge manufactured by various factories & these can be collectable in themselves as manufacturers marks & styles / colours of the badge varied.
These 2 maker marked varieties with letters JRG seem to be harder to come by, sadly both are chipped reflecting the price of the badges. They are the full backed variation & makers letters are again on the rear of the crown, the lugs on both complete & attached.
