The National Fire Service formed in 1941 & lasted throught the 2nd world war ( 1939 to 1945 ) until 1947 when it was disbanded & fire control given back to regional county & county borough fire brigades!
This set of water slide helmet transfers is a reproduction set & useful to restore or make up a standard ww2 pattern Brody "tommy" helmet. The oval would be adhered to the front of the fire helmet & appropriate district numbers added to the centre. Being a water slide transfer they are adhered by soaking in water for a few minutes, carefully sliding the transfers from the backing paper & dabbing dry with a soft towel once in place. They have a water based adhesive which allows them to stick to the front of the helmet & even original war time example helmets still have the decals on, proving how resilient they can be.
A nice set of wartime National Fire Service helmet decals for the re-enactor or collector alike.
