Princess Risborough Volunteer Fire Brigade in Buckinghamshire was formed around 1860 with another Buckinghamshire volunteer brigade Wycombe Volunteer Fire Brigade know as W.F.B Wycombe Fire Brigade.
This is a large button of the Victorian era & a very nicely detailed "court button" as these are known, nicely makers marked & in great condition with perfect shank.
Princess Risborough Volunteer Fire Brigade continued until merging into the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) after the outbreak of World War 2 ! Now forming part of Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue but with early routes reaching back to 1700's & a more effective fire brigade being formed in the early 1860's.
These early volunteer fire brigade buttons from the Victorian era are now becoming increasingly rarer with buttons being greatly more collected than many other fire brigade items because they are small & easy to display. A nice rare button of the Victorian firefighting era !
