Royal Berkshire Fire Brigade formed in 1974 after the Fire Service's Act of that year changing brigades to all county brigades & amalgamating with county borough fire brigades. There are 2 variations available for collectors, this is the normal variation but another exists with a chrome coat of arms which was issued for 2 years only & was in circulation with much smaller numbers. The chrome coat of arms variation is very difficult to come by. This badge manufactured by London Button & Badge Company is in excellent condition, issued for 9 years & has great patina to the enamel & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear. A badge that is getting harder to obtain due to its short life span before changing title to Fire & Rescue Service !
