The South Wales Fire Service was formed in 1996 when all the Welsh Fire Services became just 3 main brigades, those being Mid & West Wales, North Wales & South Wales Fire Services! South Wales formed by the amalgamation of Gwent Fire Service & South Glamorgan Fire Service, the brigade changed its title to South Wales Fire & Rescue Service in 2004 reflecting the many new roles that fire services across the British Isles had already begun! The cap badge however remained the same & was continued as South Wales Fire Service even today.
