An opportunity for collectors to own a rare GILT example of the West Yorkshire Fire Service 1974 to 1984 issue. A very limited number produced of mixed thick & thin rim gilt enamel cap badges manufactured by Marples & Beasley Badge Company of Birmingham these particular gilt examples are hard to come by for collectors to own one.
West Yorkshire Fire Service was formed in 1974 & lasted until 2005 when the brigade changed it's title to West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service. The 2nd issue West Yorkshire Fire Service cap badge issued from 1984 onwards has continued to be used by the brigade.
West Yorkshire was one of 6 designated English Metropolitan Fire Brigades & covered 878 square miles of area with 52 fire stations.
This cap badge is the thin rim gilt enamel variation with the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue Marples & Beasley Home Office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
