The post ww2 ( 1945 to 1974 ) York City Fire Brigade was a small county borough fire brigade with only 1 station covering 10 square miles!

That is the main reason why original cap badges from this brigade are harder to come by with only a limited batch number of cap badges supplied throughout its 26 year life span! The pre war York City Fire Brigade had a standard grenade style cap badge with the coat of arms of York attached to it in white metal to the brass grenade!

This 100% original cap badge has the 2.5mm enamelled centre attached to the standard economy issue lined home office star. 

The badge is in excellent original condition & is the small lions, large badge on red cap variation. There is another variation with large lions & virtually no badge on the red cap
